Does the freight exchange platform hold any liability if a consignment is lost or damaged?

No. The exchange platform is not named on the CMR consignment note — the legal contract of carriage is between the shipper and the carrier. If a consignment is lost or damaged, CMR Article 23 sets the liability ceiling at 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight affected — approximately €10–11 per kilogram at current SDR rates — and the shipper deals with the carrier directly. The platform may provide carrier rating data and dispute resolution tools, but it holds no financial liability for any movement made through it.
