Does the UN number or its transport conditions change between ADR editions?

Assigned UN numbers rarely change, but the transport conditions attached to an existing number can be revised between editions. Special provisions, packing instructions, limited quantity thresholds, and tank requirements are all subject to amendment when the UN Committee of Experts adopts changes. ADR 2025 is the current edition. ADR 2027 amendments were notified to contracting parties on 1 July 2026 and enter force on 1 January 2027. Shippers must confirm they are using the current ADR Table A entry for their UN number — the 4-digit identifier may be unchanged from a previous edition, but the transport conditions governing packaging, labelling, and documentation may have been updated.
