Is demurrage the same as port storage charges?

Demurrage and port storage are distinct charges billed by different parties. Demurrage is levied by the shipping line for the container occupying their equipment slot. Port storage — also called terminal storage or ground rent — is levied by the terminal operator for the physical ground space the container takes up. Both apply simultaneously on several European lanes once free time expires, appearing as two separate invoice line items.
