What happens if an ADR shipment is booked using an outdated Safety Data Sheet?

An outdated SDS — one that does not reflect the current ADR 2025 Table A entry for the UN number — can result in an incorrect hazard class, packing group, or proper shipping name on the transport document. Enforcement authorities stopping the vehicle can compare the transport document against ADR Table A, detain the consignment, require documents to be corrected before the journey resumes, and issue penalties to both the consignor and the carrier. The consignor bears legal responsibility for the accuracy of the dangerous goods description under REACH Article 31 and ADR Annex A. Verifying Section 14 against the current ADR Table A entry before every ADR booking is the minimum compliance step.
