What is the difference between a forklift and a pallet truck?

A forklift lifts loads to height using a hydraulic mast — it raises a pallet from the ground to racking level, lifts a load off a vehicle floor, and stacks consignments. A pallet truck moves loads at ground level only, with no mast and no lifting height beyond clearing the floor surface. A receiver with only a pallet truck can move a load once it reaches the ground but cannot unload a freight vehicle without a tail-lift or a loading dock at floor height.
