What is the purpose of a delivery note?

A delivery note gives the recipient a written record of what the sender dispatched, allowing them to verify the physical contents against the listed items before signing. It also records partial deliveries — outstanding items are listed alongside those enclosed — and gives both parties a traceable reference document if a quantity discrepancy or wrong item is reported after the driver has left.
