How does a half pallet differ from a quarter pallet in European logistics?

A half euro pallet (EUR 6) measures 800mm × 600mm and covers 0.48 m² of floor space. A quarter pallet measures 400mm × 600mm and covers 0.24 m² — half the footprint of a half pallet and one quarter of a full euro pallet. Quarter pallets carry a lower load capacity of 200–400 kg and are used for smaller promotional units, end-of-aisle displays, and narrow retail positions where a half pallet still occupies too much floor area. Two quarter pallets placed end to end reproduce the footprint of one EUR 6 half pallet. Both formats are smaller than the EUR 1 euro pallet but serve different retail display constraints.
