What is the difference between a panel van and a box van in European freight?

A box van has a separate rigid load body mounted on a chassis frame, with a loading floor positioned higher above the road than a panel van's integrated body. Box van interiors have straight, flat walls well suited to fixed shelving for trade use, but the elevated floor requires a fixed rear step or tail-lift for safe loading. A panel van's lower, curved interior loads faster by hand for lighter goods but has less usable floor width than a box van of equivalent external size due to wheel arch intrusions.
