What happens to a groupage shipment if one consignment in the load is held at customs?

A customs hold on one consignment affects only that consignment. The carrier separates it at the border or customs examination facility and continues the delivery route with the remaining cleared goods. The held consignment is released once customs clearance is complete and routed to its final delivery address on the next available service from that facility. Other shippers in the same groupage vehicle are not delayed by a hold placed on a consignment that does not belong to them.
