How does the Edscha sliding roof mechanism work mechanically?

The Edscha sliding roof is built from a series of aluminium bow frames spanning the trailer's width, connected to rails running along the trailer's length on both sides. When the roof is opened, each bow frame folds outward at the hinge joint and slides backward along the side rails — stacking at the rear of the trailer rather than remaining extended over the load space. The bows are rigid self-supporting frames that hold the roof's weatherproof shape when closed but collapse completely clear of the load space when opened, giving unobstructed vertical access for overhead crane loading from any position along the trailer's 13.6 metre length.
