What are the different strap types and when is each used?

Ratchet straps secure standard pallet and freight loads where high pre-tension is needed to resist braking and cornering forces. Cam buckle straps are used for electronics, fragile goods, or light loads where a ratchet mechanism would over-compress the packaging. Two-piece tension belts are used on LTL and groupage services where the load configuration requires flexible strap routing across multiple anchor points on the vehicle's lashing rail.
