What is the most common vehicle type in European road freight?

The curtainsider semi-trailer truck — also called a tautliner — is the most widely used vehicle in European road freight. It carries 33 Euro pallets in a standard 13.6 m trailer with a payload of approximately 24 tonnes. The curtain sides draw back for forklift side loading, making it the default vehicle for palletised LTL and FTL consignments across European borders.
