Freight Services Europe
Freight services across Europe for full truckloads, part loads and multi-pallet consignments, with FTL and LTL options and tracking to final delivery.
Road freight services across Europe are arranged through trusted carrier partners including DSV, DHL, DPD, UPS, and FedEx. Every shipment is matched to a suitable partner based on load type, route, and required delivery timeline — covering FTL and LTL freight for cross-border B2B consignments.
What Freight Services Cover
Freight services cover larger load volumes beyond pallet delivery capacity — including multi-pallet loads, full truckloads, and part loads sharing vehicle space across European routes. Road freight transport carries the largest share of inland freight in the EU, which makes it the primary mode for intra-European shipments.
2 named freight service types are available: FTL freight for full truckloads and LTL freight for part loads. Both are arranged through the carrier partner network — Go Trans does not own freight vehicles or operate its own fleet. DSV services through Go Trans cover both FTL and LTL road freight, as DSV runs one of Europe's largest road freight networks.
Tracking is included from collection to final delivery via the assigned carrier partner. A tracking reference is issued once the shipment is confirmed.
Germany and France, Belgium's two largest neighbouring markets, are served through dedicated options for freight to Germany and freight to France. Within the Benelux, freight to the Netherlands runs on short cross-border road connections. Southern lanes cover freight to Italy and freight to Spain, where longer road distances extend transit. Central European lanes include freight to Austria and freight to Poland, both reached by continuous road transport through Germany. Freight to Ireland combines road haulage with a sea crossing. Loads entering the United Kingdom cross a customs border after Brexit, so freight to the UK includes CMR, commercial invoice, and EORI support.
For palletised goods below freight volume thresholds, pallet delivery across Europe is more appropriate. For bulky, oversized, or dedicated-vehicle loads, van delivery may be a suitable alternative.
FTL and LTL — The Two Core Freight Options
FTL (Full Truckload) reserves the entire vehicle capacity for one shipment. No shared space — the load travels directly from origin to destination. FTL suits large consignments that fill or nearly fill a truck, offering faster transit and reduced handling risk for high-volume loads. Dedicated full loads on cross-border lanes are booked as FTL freight, with one vehicle assigned from collection to delivery.
LTL (Less Than Truckload) allows the shipment to share vehicle space with other loads. Also referred to as groupage or part load freight, LTL suits consignments that exceed pallet delivery capacity but do not justify a full vehicle. Cost is shared across multiple loads on the same route. Part loads that exceed pallet capacity are booked as LTL freight and matched to vehicles already running the same lane. Smaller consignments from several shippers are consolidated through carrier hubs as groupage freight.
The right option depends on total load weight, volume, route, and required transit. Those four factors are the basis for choosing FTL or LTL on any cross-border lane. Both are confirmed at the time of booking based on carrier partner availability.
Choosing the Right Freight Option
Use the table below to identify the most suitable service before booking. All thresholds are indicative — the right service is confirmed based on actual load dimensions, weight, route, and carrier partner availability.
| Load type | Typical volume | Recommended service |
|---|---|---|
| Single or small pallets | 1–2 pallets or under 30 kg | Pallet Delivery |
| Part load — multiple pallets | Several pallets sharing truck space | LTL Freight |
| Full truckload | Large load filling a vehicle | FTL Freight |
| Bulky or dedicated load | Oversized or bespoke consignment | Van Delivery |
Who This Service Is For
Freight services are suited to businesses with cross-border load volumes that exceed standard pallet delivery capacity. Common use cases include:
- Manufacturers moving finished goods or raw materials between European production and distribution facilities
- Wholesale businesses shipping regular freight volumes across European borders
- Retail and distribution businesses managing cross-border inventory movements
- Businesses with one-off or project-based large-load requirements across European routes
Shipyards and marine suppliers moving engines, spare parts, and equipment to ports and yards use marine industry logistics. For businesses with recurring freight needs, ongoing arrangements can be discussed through the same contact point — removing the need to rebook individually for each shipment.
Freight Cost and Handling
Freight cost depends on load type, weight, volume, route, collection/delivery countries, transit urgency, vehicle, and carrier. With road freight pricing explained, the split is simple: LTL is priced by shared space; FTL by full vehicle use, distance, and fuel. Additional factors include tail-lift, forklift access, timed slots, customs, special handling, ADR checks, temperature control, or high-value cargo. Accurate loading/unloading details are required; missing info can cause delays or extra charges. Pricing is confirmed after reviewing load, route, and access conditions.
How Freight Is Arranged
Go Trans operates as a logistics arranger, not a carrier. It connects customers with suitable carrier partners based on load profile, route, and required delivery timeline — without operating its own fleet.
The process works in 4 steps:
- Submit your load details. Provide the collection address, delivery address, load dimensions, total weight, freight type — FTL or LTL — and required timeline through the quote page.
- A suitable carrier partner is identified. From DSV, DHL, DPD, UPS, and FedEx, the most appropriate carrier for the route and load profile is selected. Partner availability varies by route — the right match is confirmed before the shipment is finalised.
- Collection and delivery are arranged. The assigned carrier handles cross-border road freight with standard transport documentation. A CMR waybill is the standard document for intra-European road freight, and it sits alongside the commercial invoice and packing list on a full shipping paperwork checklist.
- Tracking is provided throughout. A tracking reference is issued on confirmation, giving full visibility from collection to final delivery.
Submit your load details and the right freight option will be confirmed for your route.
