UPS Courier Partner
UPS courier partner services through Go Trans carry parcels up to 70 kg across Europe on next-day express or day-definite Standard delivery.
UPS courier partner services through Go Trans carry parcels up to 70 kg from Belgium across Europe, on next-day express tiers or the day-definite UPS Standard service. Go Trans arranges the booking, and UPS performs the transport. UPS is one of the Go Trans courier partners matched to each shipment by weight, size and deadline.
UPS Express Service Tiers
UPS express services deliver on the next business day to major European business centres, with three time commitments.
| UPS express service | Delivery commitment |
|---|---|
| Worldwide Express Plus | Next business day by 09:00 |
| Worldwide Express | Next business day by 10:30 or 12:00 |
| Worldwide Express Saver | Next business day by end of day |
The earlier the commitment, the higher the rate. These three tiers provide next day delivery in Europe for contracts, spare parts and samples, and Go Trans confirms which tier serves the destination postcode before booking.
UPS Standard Within the EU
UPS Standard is a day-definite service without a time commitment, available within the EU, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. It is the UPS option for shipments with a flexible delivery day.
Saturday delivery is available on UPS Standard shipments to Belgium. Destinations outside these countries use UPS Worldwide Expedited, which is also day-definite without a time commitment.
Stock replenishment, B2B cartons and eCommerce orders move on UPS Standard when businesses send a parcel in Europe and accept a delivery day instead of a delivery hour.
UPS Weight, Size and Billable Weight
UPS accepts parcels up to 70 kg, 274 cm in length and 400 cm in combined length and girth, with girth calculated as length + 2 × width + 2 × height. Parcels above 25 kg carry a heavy-package label.
UPS charges the higher of actual weight and dimensional weight. Dimensional weight equals length × width × height in centimetres ÷ 5,000, rounded up to the next 0.5 kg.
A box of 60 × 50 × 40 cm has a dimensional weight of 24 kg, so it is billed at 24 kg even with an actual weight of 15 kg. Shipments above 70 kg move to UPS Worldwide Express Freight, which carries pallets in 1–3 business days.
UPS Surcharge Thresholds
UPS applies size and handling surcharges triggered by fixed thresholds. Go Trans builds any triggered surcharge into the quote from the declared dimensions and weight, which is why accurate measurements matter at booking.
The Large Package Surcharge applies when length plus girth exceeds 300 cm, and these parcels carry a minimum billable weight of 40 kg. The Additional Handling charge applies when any of these conditions is met:
- Longest side above 100 cm.
- Second-longest side above 76 cm.
- Actual weight above 25 kg.
- Outer packaging not fully made of corrugated cardboard.
- Cylindrical packages such as tubes, drums and rolls.
A 90 cm poster tube triggers Additional Handling because of its cylindrical shape. The same poster in a rectangular corrugated carton under 100 cm meets none of the triggers.
UPS Access Points in Belgium
UPS Access Points in Belgium accept parcels up to 20 kg, 97 cm in length and 300 cm in combined length and girth. Locations include retail partners, self-service lockers and UPS customer centres.
A parcel waits at the Access Point for 7 calendar days. Delivery to an Access Point carries no extra cost, so receivers who are rarely at home choose a fixed collection address instead of a doorstep attempt.
Parcels above the Access Point limits go to home or business delivery instead. Whichever delivery method applies, the cover on the parcel follows UPS liability rules.
UPS Liability and Declared Value
UPS limits its default liability to €85 per shipment or 8.33 SDR per kilogram, whichever is higher, for proven direct loss or damage. International road carriage falls under the CMR Convention.
Higher cover requires a declared value, up to USD 50,000 per package. Shipments sent from an Access Point allow a declared value of up to €1,000. Declaring the contents and value at booking lets Go Trans confirm the cover before the parcel leaves.
Cover, size and speed together decide whether UPS fits the shipment.
When UPS Is the Right Go Trans Carrier
UPS fits single parcels between 31.5 kg and 70 kg, timed next-day deliveries and day-definite EU parcels with Saturday delivery to Belgium. Other partners fit other profiles: DPD for parcels up to 31.5 kg with Pickup parcelshops, and DSV for groupage, part loads and full loads.
A 45 kg spare part due in Lyon by 10:30 the next day fits UPS Worldwide Express once the postcode is confirmed as eligible. A 12 kg carton with no deadline is priced on both UPS Standard and DPD before the booking is confirmed.
Express price, delivery commitment and destination coverage decide the outcome when choosing between UPS and FedEx for urgent international parcels.
